Privacy Policy

1. The Mission

Nebriae LLC is built around minimal data retention. We exist to connect you to the stars, not to monetize your identity. This Privacy Policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, how we protect it, and how deletion works when you use nɛb.raɪ.ə Campfire (the “Service”).

2. What We Collect

We collect only what is necessary to operate the Service:

  • Account identity: an authentication identifier (via Apple/Supabase) and your chosen username.
  • User content (“Signals”): posts, comments, journal entries, star finds, morse messages, and any metadata you choose to include.
  • App/site preferences: settings such as audio and haptics toggles (stored locally and/or tied to your account where applicable).
  • Security & reliability logs: limited server logs and event records used for stability, rate limiting, abuse prevention, fraud detection, and safety enforcement.

Location: The Service may use device sensors locally to compute orientation and star positioning. We do not sell location data. If you choose to attach location to content (now or in the future), that location becomes part of your content and is handled under this policy.

3. How We Use Your Data

  • To create and maintain your account and profile.
  • To store and display your Signals to you and to others only when you choose to publish/share them.
  • To maintain integrity: prevent abuse, enforce community standards, and protect users from harassment or prohibited content.
  • To maintain reliability, security, and the safe operation of the Service.

We do not sell your personal information to data brokers. We do not use your private Signals to build advertising profiles.

4. Sharing & Disclosure

We share information only as needed to operate the Service:

  • Service providers: infrastructure providers (for example, hosting, storage, and database services) that store and process your data on our behalf.
  • Legal compliance: when required by law, lawful requests, or to protect rights, safety, and the integrity of the Service.
  • Safety enforcement: to investigate reports, suspected fraud, harassment, threats, scraping attempts, or prohibited content.

5. Content Protection & Interface Deterrents

To discourage unauthorized extraction of user content, the Service may include interface-level deterrents such as disabling certain browser actions (for example: right-click context menus, copy/paste shortcuts, or selection behavior). These measures are intended to discourage casual scraping and help protect users who share Signals.

No deterrent is perfect. If you believe your content has been misused, contact us and we will review the report.

6. Retention

We keep your account data and Signals for as long as your account remains active, unless you delete them or we are required to retain certain records for legal, safety, or security purposes.

One-year safety retention for limited records: To maintain a safe and cohesive environment and to comply with legal and operational obligations, we may retain limited records for up to one (1) year after account deletion or certain moderation/security events. This may include audit logs, report records, and integrity records used for abuse prevention, fraud detection, dispute handling, and legal compliance.

Account recovery and “shadow” snapshots (created at deletion): In rare cases (for example, accidental deletion), we may generate a minimal recovery snapshot at the time an account is deleted and retain it for up to one (1) year. This snapshot may help restore critical identity continuity elements such as your founder mark and related profile metadata. This is designed to be protective—not punitive—and helps prevent the Service from becoming hostile to accidents. Recovery snapshots are not used for advertising and are not sold.

Automatic purge: We operate a scheduled deletion process (for example, a daily job) designed to purge expired recovery snapshots and associated stored objects after the one-year retention window ends, unless a valid legal hold requires longer preservation.

Legal hold: If we are required to preserve information longer (for example, for an active investigation, a valid legal request, or a legal hold), we may retain relevant records until the hold is lifted and then delete them.

7. Your Rights & Deletion

You may delete your content or your account at any time, subject to operational constraints. When you request deletion, we take reasonable steps to remove your data from active systems. We may retain limited records where retention is required for legal compliance, security, fraud prevention, safety enforcement, or dispute handling (as described in the Retention section above).

8. CCPA Notice (California)

If you are a California resident, you may have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA), including the right to request access to or deletion of personal information and to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information. We do not sell personal information in the conventional sense. To submit a request, contact us at privacy@nebriae.com.

9. Children

The Service is not intended for children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, please contact privacy@nebriae.com.

10. Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your data. However, no internet service can guarantee absolute security. Use the Service with care and protect your device credentials.

11. Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy. If we make material changes, we will post the updated policy and revise the Effective Date.
